William Boller Thompson, age 88, of Whitehall, died peacefully Saturday June 22, 2024, surrounded by his family.

Bill was born Nov. 21, 1935 in Binghamton NY, son of Walter F Sr. and Jessica Hoyt Thompson. He was predeceased by his parents and his siblings Walter F. Thompson Jr,  Anne Gibson McCard and Henry Thompson.

He graduated from Binghamton Central High School and Harpur College (now part of Binghamton Univ.) with a major in philosophy and minors in French and math. He attended graduate classes at Lehigh University's Information Science program.

His work life revolved around computer systems at GAF Corp., Quality Mills, DEC and finally WT Associates, a consulting company with his son Warren.

Bill was politically active, working for Civil Rights, Democratic candidates and environmental causes.

He played drums, danced, loved bad puns, enjoyed hiking and canoeing, and was interested in history and genealogy.

He was a member of NAACP, CORE, ACM and an APICS Fellow. He was a past president of Unitarian Universalist Church of the Lehigh Valley, Allentown, and was active in their Social Action Committee.

He was dearly loved by his wife of 35 years, Mary Lilley-Thompson; sons Warren and Steven; stepdaughter Jessica Lilley; grandchildren Jeffrey, Eric, Kayleigh, Connor and Kate; great-granddaughters Delilah and Jada; and a large extended family.

A green burial is planned for family at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 26th at Green Meadow, Fountain Hill PA.

A celebration of life will be held Dec. 28 at the Nicos C. Elias Funeral Home, Allentown.
