Charlotte I. Allen
07/06/2024

Charlotte I. Allen, 79, of Allentown passed away July 6th at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Cedar Crest. She was the wife of Philip Allen for 62 years. Born in Shreveport, Louisiana, she was a daughter of the late Irene Hargrove Paige and the late Henry Stanley Carroll. She is predeceased by brother Keith Carroll, brother and sister in law Joe and Joan Allen and parents in law Fannie and George Charles.

Charlotte managed marketing and administration for many long-term care facilities in the area, and was particularly proud of her work opening Country Meadows of Allentown and Pocono Lutheran Village of Stroudsburg. She also owned and operated the Early American Crabhouse with her husband and daughters. Charlotte was a devout Christian whose pre-meal prayers were excitedly awaited before every meal. Guided by her faith throughout her life, she was a frequent volunteer and was awarded the Dame of St. Ignatius of Antioch award.

Charlotte was the ultimate host. She loved gardening, decorating, cooking, and baking. Her family believes she was single-handedly responsible for keeping the butter economy thriving. Charlotte (“Mom,” or “Bobbi” to her grandkids) loved her family more than anything, with the possible exception of the family dogs. The size of Charlotte’s heart was known to all, as she was known to keep her doors open to any friends or family in need of love and support.

She is survived by her beloved husband Philip; daughters Lisa Phillips and Laurie Allen and partner Jim Wagner of Allentown; grandchildren Zachary and Melissa Seibert, Nicholas and Amanda Seibert, Anthony and Ashley Abraham, Kelly (Abraham) and Steven McConnell and Michael Abraham and fiance Ana Sofia Orduno-Ramsberg; great grandchildren Emily, Elizabeth, Bennett, Miles and Quinn; bonus grandchildren Jackson and Thomas Wagner; sister and brother in law Delores and Robert Edwards along with extended family.

Services: viewing Wednesday, July 10th starting at 9:30 a.m. in St. Paul Antiochian Orthodox Church, 156 E. Main Street, Emmaus. Funeral service at 11:00 a.m. with interment following at Laurel Cemetery, Fullerton.
