Catherine Hurley Campbell

Catherine (Cathy) Campbell of Allentown, passed on July 13, 2025 at the age of 83, with her family by her side. She was born on December 26, 1941 in Salem, New Jersey and was the daughter of the late Lillian and Frederick E. Hurley Jr.. While  working for the DuPont Company in Wilmington, DE., Cathy met Bill Campbell, Army Lieutenant, and love of her life, from Tamaqua, PA. Bill was stationed at the Philadelphia Air Defense Site in Pedricktown, NJ.

Cathy earned her Bachelor’s degree in Social Service from Cedar Crest College and her Master’s of Social Service from Bryn Mawr College.  In addition to her work at Lehigh Carbon Community College, Cathy volunteered for 27 years in Kiwanis, an international service club dedicated to improving the world one child and one community at a time.  Throughout her time with Kiwanis, Cathy served as a member, as Club President, and as District Lt. Governor.  She received the George L. Hixson Fellow Award and the Centennial Award.  She also loved baking, traveling, and reading — especially sharing these joys with her family. Cathy and Bill were both members of the First Presbyterian Church of Allentown where Catherine taught Sunday School for many years.

She will be greatly missed.  Cathy is survived by her beloved husband Bill, their children William (Bill) Campbell, Jr. (Leanne) and their daughter Abigail, Craig Campbell (deceased), (Jennifer) and their children Benjamin and Lily, Kyle Campbell (Sandra) and their daughter Sidayin, and her sister, Carolyn Moynihan. She was predeceased by her sister Helen (Joan) Hurley.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, July 25, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Nicos C.
