Suheil Barber

Suheil "Sid" Barber, 71, of Allentown, went to be with the Lord, June 17. He was born in Amar Al Hosn, Syria on August 15, 1940.  He was the son of the late Aziz and Mariam (Shahoud) Barber.  Suheil worked for the City of Allentown for 25 years, before retiring in 2002.  Previous to that, he  owned his own barber shop, and continued to cut hair as a hobby.  He always said "Barber by name, barber by trade." He was a devoted member of St. George Orthodox Church in Allentown, where he was a founding member of the Teen SOYO (Society of Orthodox Youth).  He was very active in the Arab-American community, where he was committed to upholding his heritage, and instilling his morals and beliefs in his family and friends. 

 
Survivors:  He is survived by his wife, Linda, sons Jeffrey Barber and wife Gina, and Steven Barber, daughters Janene Chidiac and husband Michael, Claudia Baumert and husband Matthew, and Deanna Baurkot and husband Raymond, and eight grand-children. 
 
Services:   Viewing will be held Wednesday evening, 6-8 p.m. in the Nicos C. Elias Funeral Home, 1227 W. Hamilton St., Allentown and also Thursday morning 10-11 a.m. at St. George Orthodox Church, 1011 Catasauqua Ave., Allentown, followed by the funeral service at 11:00 Thursday in the church.  Interment at Laurel Cemetery.  www.eliasfuneralhome.com
