Lyell E. Stengele

Lyell E. Stengele, 92, of Allentown, passed away Dec. 17 at his home with his family present. He was the husband of Violet C. (DeLong) Stengele, they were married 68 years.
Born in Allentown, he was a son of the late Ralph and Arsula (Heist) Stengele. Lyell worked as a machinist for the Bradley Pulverizer Company, Allentown for 38 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, sports and the outdoors and was a driver for Meals on Wheels for 20 years. Mr. Stengele was a veteran of the U.S. Army during World War II. He and Violet are original members of Trinity Baptist Church in Dorneyville.
 
He is survived by his wife Violet; a son Scott Stengele and wife Debbie of Toms River, NJ; daughters Cynthia Cantine and husband Michael of Northumberland, Pa., Debra Wessner and husband Russell of Barrington, Rhode Island, and Joyce Frageorgia and husband Peter of Plainville, Mass; 12 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by brothers Kermit, Laird and John and a sister Verna.
 
Services: viewing on Friday, Dec. 23 beginning at 10:00 a.m. in Trinity Baptist Church, 689 S. Hillview Rd., Allentown, with service at 12 noon with Rev. Gary Morrison officiating. Private interment.  Arrangements by Nicos C. Elias Funeral Home, Allentown.
