Amine Barber

Amine Alkhal Barber, 98, of Allentown passed away January 27 at her home, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Amar, Syria, a daughter of the late Youssef and Rahme Alkhal. She was the loving wife of the late George Aziz Barber, with whom she celebrated 65 years of marriage. Amine was a member of St. George Orthodox Church, Allentown. She worked at various garment factories as a seamstress before retiring. She loved gardening, flowers and the outdoors, but especially her beloved family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her son Aziz and wife Barbara; daughters Marian and husband William Jones, Georgette and husband Aziz Alkhal; daughter in law Carol Shannon; 8 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two sons, George and John; two daughters, Janette and Diane; three sisters and three brothers.
Services: viewing on Wednesday Jan. 31 starting at 9:00 a.m. in St. George Orthodox Church, 1011 Catasauqua Ave., Allentown followed by funeral service at 11:00. Interment at Laurel Cemetery, Whitehall.
