Nancy N. Lucas

Nancy N. Lucas, 71, of Wescosville passed away March 13th at her home with family by her side. She was the wife of Norman F. Lucas; they started dating in 10th grade at West High School in Columbus, Ohio. They would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this June. Born in Cleveland, Ohio, she was a daughter of the late Richard and Barbara (Beistle) Northrup. Nancy graduated from Miami (Ohio) University, where she made many lifelong friends, with a BA in English Education. She worked with the Lehigh County District Attorney’s Victim/Witness unit, and prior to that she worked for the Social Security Administration in Cleveland, Ohio.

Nancy was a loving wife, mother, Nana, and friend. She had many close and cherished relationships; she touched the lives of all she met. Nancy loved books; she was a dedicated and longtime volunteer at the Emmaus Public Library. She enjoyed playing bridge socially in women’s and couples’ groups. Nancy’s passion for sports started in childhood; she was a lifelong fan of Ohio State and Cleveland teams. She greatly enjoyed going to dinner and the movies, the theater, and to travel. And, as all who knew Nancy can attest, she loved being outdoors and on the go. Nearly every day she could be found walking – in local parks, her neighborhood, or an indoor spot like the South Mall in poor weather.

She is survived by her husband Norman; son Steven (Jenny Chan) of Somerville, Massachusetts; daughter Amy and granddaughter Maya of Houston, Texas; brother Dave Northrup of Columbus, Ohio; cousin Christopher Rothko (Lori Cohen) of New York City. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Services: a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Arrangements by Nicos C. Elias Funeral Home, Allentown.

Contributions: In lieu of flowers, Nancy requested that donations be made to the Emmaus Public Library. Please indicate that the donation is in memory of Nancy Lucas for the Emmaus Public Library Endowment Fund: https://www.emmauspl.org/support-epl
