Lawrence J. Blocker

Lawrence Julius Blocker was born on February 1, 1942 to Lawrence and Dorothy Blocker. He was the second of three children; sister Helen Blocker Brockett (deceased) and younger sister Joanne Blocker Durant.

He passed away peacefully in his sleep at Bethlehem Manor, PA on Wednesday, February 21, 2024 at the age of 82. In his early childhood, he was a member of Calvary Baptist Church of Plainfield NJ. He graduated from Plainfield High School, was a longtime employee of Ford Motor Company in Edison NJ, and a weekend caddy of 45+ years at Plainfield Country Club.

His hobbies included attending the Penn Relays in PA, bowling with his UAW League, Billiards and Lottery/Pick-its for the tri-state area.

He leaves to mourn his ex-wife Janet Blocker; children Lamont Sr. (daughter-in-law Jacqueline, deceased), Lori Ann, Lawrence (daughter-in-law Chyvonne, deceased); sister JoAnne Blocker Durant (brother-in-law Steven); grandchildren Lamont Jr., Joseph and Jeanelle; great grandsons Thailan Borden and Lamont III; nephews and nieces Kevin Brockett, Dana Brockett Sharpe (nephew-in-law Todd), Lashonn Durant and Brandon Durant; great nieces and nephews D’Anna Brockett, Justin Frazier, Domonique Sharpe, and Jordan Durant; and a host of other family, relatives and friends in Plainfield and Westfield NJ, Easton PA and neighboring communities. 

Interment is on Saturday, March 16, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at Franklin Memorial Park, 1800 Lincoln Highway, North Brunswick, NJ 08902.
