Ernest Bonser, Jr.

Ernest "Ernie" "Boobie" Bonser Jr., age 70, passed away peacefully on July 2, 2024 at The Gardens of Easton where he resided for the last 2 years. He was born in Bethlehem on October 6, 1953 to the late Ernest Bonser Sr. and Dorthea (Rabenold) Bonser. He was predeceased by his wife of 49 years, Margaret "Sue" Bonser.

He will be missed by his daughters, Michelle Horrox and spouse Doug, Monica Merkel and spouse Kathy, Malissa Sullivan and spouse Chris, Kim Bonser, Kelly Quayle, and Kacey Bonser, sisters Diane Matla and spouse Joe, Roxanne Bonser and spouse Latif. Ernie had a soft spot for his 18 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, nine great-great grandchildren, and his grand dogs. He is also survived by nieces, nephews and friends.

He was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and brother. Ernest worked at the Bethlehem Steel for 25 years until its closure in 1995. He was known for his incredible woodworking skills. He took great pride in his craftsmanship and made beautiful pieces for his family.

In addition to woodworking, Ernest enjoyed playing poker, going to the casino, golfing, bowling, and cruising with his wife. He was a family man and cherished spending time with his grandchildren. Ernest was also an electrician who had a passion for astronomy and storm watching. He was a huge fan of Star Trek and loved to gaze up at the night sky.

Funeral services and ceremonies to honor Ernie's life will be held privately. He will be remembered fondly by those whose lives he touched.
