Nakhleh "Nick" Akari

Nakhleh (Nick) Akari was born in Hama, Syria to Mtanyous and Anesah (Jarrouj) Akari. After graduating high school, he served his country in the Syrian Military. After his discharge from military service, Nick joined the Hama (his hometown) Infrastructure and Highway Division. After his marriage to Ida Hanna in 1981, he emigrated to the United States and settled in the Lehigh Valley. He and Ida raised their loving daughter, Anesah. He eventually, emigrated to Merida, Mexico and was employed as a Quality Finishing Manager for the Oxford Group until his retirement in 2017. Nick loved entertaining his family by sharing his many jokes and was always ready to make everyone chelada beers, paired with a Cuban cigar. He was an avid Real Madrid soccer fan, who will hopefully win Champions League for him in the next few months.
He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, his adoring daughter Anesah, his sister Hayat (Akari) Makhoul, many nephews, nieces, great-nephews, nieces and in-laws.
He was preceded to eternal life by his parents, Mtanyous and Anesah (Jarrouj) Akari; brothers: Illan, Rafat, Ibrahim; and sisters, Linda (Akari) Jezdan, Mary (Akari) Ibrahim.
Services: viewing Thursday, March 6th starting at 9:00 a.m. at St. George Orthodox Church, 1011 Catasauqua Avenue, Allentown. Funeral service begins at 11:00 with interment following at Laurel Cemetery, Whitehall. Arrangements by Nicos C. Elias Funeral Home, Allentown.
