Sally Jo Gilbert, 55, of Allentown, passed away November 26 at home with her husband Edward and two children by her side. Born in Allentown, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Ruth Schlener. A graduate of Dieruff High School, Sally held a variety of jobs, most recently as a teachers assistant. Sally loved to read, shop, and travel, particularly to Disney World and Long Beach Island, which was an annual family vacation destination. Excursions to the casino, outlet malls, and New York City with her sisters were frequent day trips she enjoyed. Her true passion was her family, raising with Edward a daughter, Kristin, and son, Andrew, and spending time with her siblings and extended family. Through her illness, they were her greatest supporters, for which she was unconditionally grateful.

Survivors: Husband and children, all of Allentown, with whom she resided; siblings, Barbara, wife of Roy Miller, of Allentown, Jeff Schlener, husband of Janice, of Allentown, Linda, wife of Greg Bystrom, of Macungie, Bette, wife of Rick Marsteller, of Allentown, and Robin, wife of Kirk Lysek, of Macungie; nieces and nephews; plus her beloved canine companion, Max.

Services: The family is honoring Sallys request by holding a memorial service with the family in the spring on Long Beach Island. The Nicos C. Elias Funeral Home, Allentown is assisting the family.
